Experimental Studies on the Influence of Acidosis and Alkalosis upon Inflammatory Changes.

Abstract
Granuloma Pouches were produced by application of croton oil by Hans Selyes procedure on albino-rats which were given sugar or ammonium chloride for a long time to produce acidosis and sodium bicarb onate or calcium chloride for a long time to produce alkalosis.
Influences-of acidosis or alkalosis on the inflammatory matory changes in the wall of the granuloma pouch, particularly on the accumulation of exudate in its, cavity were experimentally observed.
¨ç The quantity of the exudate in the cavities of the granuloma pouches of the albino-rats which were given sugar for a time to produce acidosis were increased definitely more than that in-normal albino-rats.
¨è The quantity of the exudate ¢¥in the cavities of the granuloma pouches of. the albino-rats which were given ammonium chloride for a long time to produce acidosis were increased a little more than that in normal albino-rats. But the quantity of the exudate in the cavities of the granuloma pouches of the albino-rats which were given ammonium chloride continuously after making granuloma pouches were decreased, probably due to the diuretic action of ammonium chloride.
¨éThe quantity of the exudate in the cavities of the granuloma pouches of the albino-rats which were given sodium bicarbonate for a long time to produce alkalosis were decreased¢¥ definitely in comparison with that of normal albino-rats.
¨ê The quantity of the exudate in the` cavities of .the granuloma pouches of the albino-rats which were given calcium chloride for.. A long time were dec reased a little¢¥-in comparison with that of normal albino-rats
¨ë On histopathological observation of the wall of .the grnnulomapouche .Ihe differences in the thickness of granulation tissues formed. Wand in their histological components and in the quantity of the exudates in the cavities of these granuloma pouches are noticed to depend upon acidosi and alkalosis produced in the albino rats.
The quantity of the exudate in these cavities of the granuloma pouches and¢¥ the thickness of granulation tissues formed in these acidosis albino-rats were increased more than the ¢¥6antity of the exudate in the cavities of the granuloma pouch and the thickness of granulation tissues formed in the normal albino rats and generally tend to show the formation of relatively loose granulation tissues rich in wandering cells arterioles venules and capillaries along with scattered lesions of degeneration and minute necrosis in the granulation tissues.
On the other hand the quantity of the exudate in the cavities of those granuloma pouches and the thickness of granulation tissues formed in those rats which developed alkalosis were decreased, and generally tend-to. show formation of relatively dense granulation tissues poor in wandering cells, arterioles, venules and capillaries.
